How to Remove Safari Extensions on Your Mac

Initially considered as an Apple developer hack, extensions became a useful and standard way to provide a modular operating system to users. These extensions are small pieces of code which are used to extend the system’s functionality. Many important system services including USB and FireWire support are optional components implemented as extensions.

In Mac systems, Safari browser offers users a wide range of extensions to customize their Internet experience. It also allows optional third party browser extensions to be installed on your system to perform various tasks like social sharing, note taking, interface with different apps like 1password etc. These extensions are considered to be useful and nifty tools but sometimes they also create problems to browse normally. Certain outdated and obsolete extensions need to be excluded from the list to enhance the browsing experience. Let’s discuss a method to remove Safari Extension on a Mac from your Safari browser.

Removing Safari Extensions on a Mac?

To do this follow these steps:

  • Open the Safari app in your system and go to “Safari” menu and select “Preferences”.
  • Click on “Extensions” tab, it will open the list of all extensions installed on Safari.
  • Select the extension you no longer want in Safari and click on “Uninstall”.
  • Confirm the removal in the pop-up window to remove that extension.
  • Follow the same method to remove other unwanted extensions on Safari.

Try deleting Safari Extension manually on your Mac: Above mentioned method is the most useful way to remove Safari extensions. Alternatively, you can try manually intervening from the file system to delete extensions from Safari. This step is useful when extensions in Safari are causing the problem to it and Extensions manager is not able to work properly. This situation is rare but it can happen when certain errant or incompatible extension refuses to remove itself. To remove these errant extensions, you need to go to where Safari extensions are located in Mac operating system. To do this follow these steps:

  • First Quit Safari on your Mac.
  • From the Finder on your system, press Command + Shift + G to open “Go to” folder (also accessible from the Go menu) and enter the following path “
~/Library/Safari/Extensions/” and hit “Go”.
  • Instantly you will be in the Safari Extensions folder on your Mac, remove any extension you want from Safari on your Mac.
  • Re-launch Safari when finished.

Remove Safari Plug-ins: Safari Plug-ins are different from Safari Extensions. Safari Plug-ins include better functionality and tend to be feature-rich media viewers like QuickTime, Adobe Acrobat reader in Safari etc. You can enter following paths to locate Safari Plug-ins.

For system level Safari plug-ins location (available for all users)

 /Library/Internet Plug-ins/

For user level Safari Plug-ins location (available only for current users) ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins/

Most of the times you don’t require Safari extensions or third-party Plug-ins as simpler Safari installation can deal with any difficulty with the browser on the Mac. If you have updated system software and removed cache and still facing problems like Safari crashes, then you should consider checking Safari extensions. It happens more often when some extensions or plug-ins have not been updated yet to be compatible with the latest version.

Summary: Safari extensions are a useful addition to the browser to perform numerous tasks. Though certain obsolete and unnecessary extensions become a problem for the browser. In this article, we can discuss the ways to remove Safari Extensions on your Mac.

Meet the Improvised Data Recovery Wizard 10.8 from EaseUS

Data is the most valued part of the digital era. That’s why data recovery tools and professionals are highly paid in real world. The demand for the data recovery has shown an opportunity to the software developers to develop their own piece of software that recovers the data lost due to different reasons.

One of the best data recovery software programs that are available on the internet is EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard. We have see the working and features of this tool (older version) in the past in this article, I will be taking a tour on the latest improvements that this tool is coming with.

Note: You can even try the trial version of this software and check the functionality of the software before you buy. This free data recovery software version will allow you to use all the options but some of them with some limitations. If you want to seriously recover the deleted or formatted data, better buy a license.

In what situations you can use EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard?

When your files got deleted knowingly or unknowingly – It is very common to lose files. We may delete necessary files unknowingly sometimes or we may want those files that we have deleted in the past considering them useless. In such situations, don’t sit and grieve for the loss of data. This data recovery wizard will bring them back to life and give you a second chance.

When you formatted files on the disk – Formatting the disk is another major and common enemy of the data on computers. We generally lose the data on disks while we format the disks. Unfortunately, there is no ‘undo’ method for formatting. We cannot just simply revert back all changes that happened on to the data on the disk. In such situation, EaseUS data recovery software helps to recover data in simple 3 step process.

Hard drive damage – No hardware is invincible. All those ‘data stays forever’ basics of computers that we have learned in our childhood are not true. Data will be lost along with the worn out hardware. Hard disks are the most vulnerable hardware for damage. In such hard disk damage situations, this software can help you recover the data from it easily and intelligently.

Virus attacks – The darkest side of software industry is the virus. The malicious programs designed and developed by hackers are meant to snatch, delete and hijack the control over the date from the owner. EaseUS data recovery wizard will help to recover that data removed by the viruses.

Operating system failures – It may be due to viruses or any other file corruptions, the operating systems will fail to start or work properly. In such situations, recovering the data from the computer would need expert knowledge of the computers. This data recovery tool will facilitate the easy options to the user to recover such data easily, with no expert knowledge needed.

Hard disk partition errors – During the disk partition management, the probability of losing the data is high compared to that of other reasons. The data will be lost in a royal path during partitioning. Luckily, this data recovery tool has that option to bring back those royal taxed data back safe.

Troublesome RAW Partition – The RAW partition is the crashed or corrupted form of hard disk with data that is not usually accessible. You would often be asked to format the partition while opening it. As we have no option left to take action, we would generally format the disk resulting in the data loss. EaseUS data recovery software helps to recover that data too.

To recover data from external disks and devices – Not just the data on the native computer, EaseUS data recovery wizard software recovers the data lost on the external devices too. You can recover data from the devices like external hard drives, pen drives, memory cards, digital camera, mobile phones, music players and so alike.

How to use EaseUS data recovery wizard 10.8?

Go to EaseUS website and download the free data recovery software (data recovery wizard 10.8). You can use the free trail with limitation up to 2GB recovery capacity only. You may try it for a couple of days if you want and buy the license later. By the way, that is an intelligent thing to do.

Step 1: Run the setup file and install the software like any other program on your computer. EaseUS will not recommend any adware along with this version (10.8) of the tool.

Step 2: Select the type of files that you want to recover on your disk and click next.

Step 3: Select the disk (either internal or external) in this step and click scan.

Step 4: Let the scan complete and when it is done, select the folder(s) and file(s) that you wanted to recover and click recover.

Step 5: Select a location to save the recovered files and folders and wait for the process to complete.

Tip: If the scan shows too many large files and if you won’t have time to proceed with it, you may save the scan results while closing the application and respond later.

EaseUS has rectified the little bugs and improved the compatibility of the software with latest version of the operating systems. This has improved the performance of the tool and its ability of recovering.

Don’t take risks and disturb your file table on the disks with failing methods to recover the files. Use this data recovery tool right after you notice the data loss and recover it well back in good state.

Don’t forget to share your thoughts about the tool in comments below. Also, share any good working methods to recover the data that you had benefited from.

Original Procedure to Replace Your Faulty Samsung Galaxy Note 7?

So, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7s are officially recalled. That means you can get a replacement of your current (faulty battery) Galaxy Note 7 with a new one. You won’t need to spend another penny on this process. This whole process is taken responsibility by the Samsung itself for the sake of customer safety of their premium customers (after all they are the ones who survive a company from being turning down).

Countries in which already got the Samsung Galaxy Note 7s sold will be getting the replacement in the late weeks of September and those which are yet to get it launched (like as in India) will be getting it with a little more delay. The pre-bookings will be getting a free Gear VR (latest version) along with the device as a compensation for the waiting.

The battery cell issue is not full detailed on the Samsung website but given a notice about the replacement call.

Don’t take exchanging of Galaxy Note 7 easily

It is not as easy as taking your device to the Samsung service center and get it replaced. There are certain proceedings you must remember. Before we go through the procedure, you better know that Samsung is speeding up the replacement all over the world by September 21st of this year. So gather up things that you need to carry along. Possible add the following in your list.

#1 Take the whole package of your Samsung galaxy Note 7 including all the accessories and the box as well.

#2 Take the invoice or the bill along with you. Bill is necessary of course.

#3 Take a backup of your data including the phone numbers, photos, calendar entries and documents at your home before you take it to replacement.

#4 Note down the IMEI number of the current Galaxy Note 7. You can dial *#06# for checking your IMEI number or you can find it in Settings.

#5 After taking backup, factory reset your device and make sure no personal data exists on it anymore.

How to identify the replacement?

It is important to make sure that you got the correct replacement for your faulty Galaxy Note 7. In order to identify the new Galaxy S7, check for the following icons and symbols on the package as shown below.

A valid replacement will have the following details on the package.

#1 A blue ‘S’ mark

#2 A small black square

#3 Unique IMEI number

Samsung fears Apple iPhone 7

The fact why Samsung is taking this very prestigious is that the Apple has already introduced the new iPhone into the market, the iPhone 7. As the buzz for iPhone 7 is not that vibrating, this might benefit Samsung to hold their Galaxy Note 7 customers till replacement.

Hope that helps!

Resolved: Outlook Error 0x8004060c with SCANPST.EXE Utility

MS Outlook, being one of the commonly used desktop email client is very familiar among several users for emailing purpose & the inbuilt Office applications provided with it. The most common error that has been encountered by most of Outlook users is error 0x8004060c. This error has been found in multiple versions of MS Outlook, without any warning or may affect the send/receive emails option on an Outlook Account. The blog will be discussing about the same error and the method to resolve it.

Unknown Error 0x8004060c

This error is one of the common error messages that users of Outlook has faced, which occurs when user attempts to send or receive an email, remove contact, update the calendar etc. The error may make Outlook crash at irregular intervals, unable to view attachments, prevention of incoming new mails, and other issues.

Causes of the Error

The main reason for the occurrence of this error is exceeding size limit of the message store, leaving no free space for new mails. It can be due to following causes:

- Corruption of PST due to Exchange Crash, Virus attacks, oversized PST
- Exchange Connectivity or Synchronization issues making OST inaccessible

Since oversized PST file is the main factor for the error discussed above, we need to be able to reduce the size of the PST file. The earlier versions of Outlook supported only 2GB size limit of PST file, which was increased up to 20 GB in Outlook 2007. Now the maximum storage supported is 50 GB with the introduction of Outlook 2010. When the PST reaches its limit, the performance will automatically slow down, and oversized PST file becomes more prone to be corrupted making it inaccessible and leads to partial or complete data loss.

Ways to troubleshoot the Error

The possible way to troubleshoot the error is by reducing the size of PST file. Some of the solutions are as follows:

Delete unwanted data from Outlook Account

Reduce the overall size of PST file by deleting some of the unimportant or repeated emails & other data items from inbox, deleted items, and other folders from the Outlook account. These items can be deleted using SHIFT + DELETE to free up the space in Outlook PST file.

Using Compact Feature in Outlook

Second method is to use the Compact option available in Outlook to reduce the size of PST file. When the items are deleted from PST file, the file is compacted in the background while not using computer or Outlook is running. To reduce the size immediately, compact process is used.

Create a new PST file to archive data

This method is used when the size of the PST file of an Outlook account is very large. In order to reduce some space, user can move some of the items and archive them in a new PST file. Archiving feature helps in reducing the current PST file size by creating new PST and storing items in it.

Using Truncation Facility developed by Microsoft

The truncation facility designed by Microsoft is a tool that helps users to create a truncated copy of a PST file allowing recovery when size reaches over 2GB. The copy of the PST file does not contain complete data as the tool cuts the amount of data from the file as defined by the user.

Use Inbuilt Repair Utility of Outlook

This utility helps in dealing with corruption issues or damage in Outlook data files i.e. OST and PST. Scanost.exe was used earlier to repair the OST file, which was later replaced by scanpst.exe for repair of both OST and PST files. It will scan and repair the corrupt file. However, it does not guarantee complete recovery of data items.

Increase Size of the Outlook PST File

Another option is to increase the size of the PST file by editing the registry entries. This method can be difficult for non-technical users but we can follow the steps below to increase the size:
1. Go to Start and type ‘regedit’ and click OK.

2. In the Registry Editor window, follow the path ‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\PST

3. From the PST Folder, locate the values MaxLargeFileSize and WarnLargeFileSize

4. Double-click on MaxLargeFileSize value and select Decimal and enter new size limit in the value data box and click on OK.

5. Repeat the same for WarnLargeFileSize value to select the new warning size limit

6. Close the Registry Editor.

In the blog, we have discussed about one of the most common error encountered by Outlook users related to Send/Receive error that restricts users to receive any new incoming mails. It has been found that the main factor for the error is oversized PST file size. Along with the causes of the error, the blog further describes several methods on how to solve 'Unknown Error 0x8004060c' in Outlook.

How to Remove Trotux Malware from Your Browsers

Trotux is one of the malware programs that hijacks the browser settings and occupies the homepage and search. This malware program comes with some free software. This would actually be installed with the free software that you download with or without being noticed.

Trotux infects the 3 major browsers, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. It hijacks the browser shortcuts on the desktop and hijacks the browser settings by not allowing you to change/remove anything.

The confusing thing is that you won’t find any extensions installed in the browser settings. You may not even find the malware in the program files or even existed not with the same name. In such cases, it is better to contact the expert user. Because, a technician might bring up service bill to stars in the sky. No! I’m not serious. You may reach out to a technician if you are really serious about it.

But, before that, try this out.

The actual Trotux that I’ve encountered is on my cousin’s computer. When I asked about it, he said that he was trying to download the IDM (Internet Download Manager). He ended up download the fake IDM setup with the uninvited guest of Trotux malware.

Removing Trotux malware from browsers

Step 1: If this happened to your own computer, find the program or file that you have recently downloaded and remove it first. Yes, the setup file I mean.

If this happened to your friend’s or family system, ask them what did they do and when was the last time they used it in good health. Find any malware program or files and remove them manually.

Step 2: Scan your computer for malware with the anti-virus software. At most cases, anti-virus software might not detect such stealth malwares on the system. Even the official Chrome malware cleaner tool cannot identify Trotux hijack. This is not to scare you but the fact.

Step 3: Download Malwarebytes on to your computer and install it. Make sure it doesn't flag any incompatibilities with the existed software on your computer. If Malwarebytes shows any incompatible software, remove it first temporarily and run Malwarebytes stress free.

Step 4: Scan the whole system with Malwarebytes and let it list out the threats. When finished, remove the shown threats.

Step 5: Restart the computer. Open the bowser and check now for the Trotux. Good if it is not visible. If it still shows up, better consult a technician for the sake of your data security.

Share this solution to your friends and help them get rid of Trotux browser hijacker. Comment below if you need any further verbal assistance regarding this. I’ll be happy to help at my knowledge level.

Fix for "There was an error opening this document. Access denied" Error

Have you recognized this error mentioned in the screenshot? Yes, it appears most often when the system logic does not identify the corresponding file. It clearly indicates that the file is damaged. To deal boldly with such incident, it is necessary that user must have knowledge about the type(s) of corruption the file has entered into. Knowledge of inbuilt repair methods is another way to deal with the issue. Moreover, the perfect sense to deal with ‘Access Denied’ issue is assistance from third-party tool.

The most peculiar event occurs when the known PDF file becomes inaccessible. This moment has witnessed the erroneous functions like ineffective running of file scripts on startup. To fix them it is advised initially to reset the settings from Preferences.

Managing Manual Settings of Acrobat Reader

There are settings in Adobe Acrobat that can be manipulated to correct the incoming error. One such setting is disabling the ‘Protected Mode’. The protected mode is used to counter any external agent that is in capacity to affect the PDF files. Sometimes due to enabled protected mode, the PDF files are not recognized as safe and hence cannot be opened. To disable the Protected Mode user can follow these steps:

  1. Open Adobe Reader.
  2. Click Edit > Preferences.
  3. Followed by Security (Enhanced) > Unmark ‘Enable Protected Mode at Startup’.

Once it is done, the entire changes are accepted by the system and the inaccessible PDF files become accessible. Moreover, for making fast changes the user can make alterations at registry level. To make the changes at registry, user has to make such changes as mentioned below:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\Privileged\
Change the valvue “bProtectedMode”=dword:00000001 to“bProtectedMode”=dword:00000000

Although user can manage these manual settings, but problem even persists when PDF files are actually corrupt. Such corruption is due to virus attack, improper download from source and other reasons. To deal with all such issues, it is recommended to take assistance from third-party software.

The assistance from third-party software guarantees solution to all type of PDF related issues.

Effect of Third-Party Software

The third-party software are built with powerful algorithms to drive the entire PDF recovery process swiftly and safely. Such tools are designed keeping in mind the requirements needed in the purpose.

PDF Corruption – A Boon or Bane

PDF corruption is sometimes considered as boon and at the same time considered as bane somewhere else. PDF corruption is boon when the PDF source is corrupt with virus attack and files sent from such source also contain the same potent viral copies. If user downloads it without protection mode, then it is clear that user’s system would get crash. Therefore, it is always recommend to open the files in ‘Protected Mode’.

On the contrary the PDF corruption is bane when user who is in need of PDF document fails to access the file. It could be tackled by making certain changes in ‘Preferences’ or registry in the system. In totality it would be better to present that user must take assistance from third-party software that has been designed to provide satisfactory results.

How to Backup Your Data When Windows is Not Loading

Sometimes Windows operating system will not boot up because of various reasons. This will block the access to your data on the hard drive. Taking it to the technician, you would get bashed with the charges for the service, especially for the data recovery service.

The valid reason for Windows operating system not loading is the malicious software program that you have installed on the computer before you shut it down last time. The malicious program might have destroyed the files related to Windows boot up.

Another reason that sounds like backstabbing is that when changing operating system. When there is a need to change the operating system on the computer and you are already half way close to complete the installation, the disk will not let you proceed. What actually happens here is that after formatting the disk partition to have a clean installation, it will show an error saying, “Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style.”

Changing the format of the disk from one format to another will erase the data on any other partition completely on the hard drive. This will lead to data loss.

Don’t even think of recovering the data later. Because, changing the disk format will disturb the file storing table structure which is needed to be constant for any recovering tool or software to recover the data that is deleted/formatted.

Don’t lose hope. Hang in there. There is a way to back your data on to external hard drive or thumb drive without using any 3rd party software or hardware tool. To do this process, you would need a Windows operating system DVD or bootable USB drive.

Backing up your data on to external drive

Warning: We are going to use some advanced techniques using command prompt in this process. Doing them wrong might destroy your data and hard drive. So, I advice you to only proceed if you can analyze and understand the information that is shown on the command prompt screen.

Step 1: Insert the OS DVD or bootable drive and boot into it (go to ‘boot options’ while booting and choose the DVD RAM/Removable Drive).

Step 2: Proceed till you see ‘Install Windows’ button on the screen. Now press ‘Shift+F10’ to open Command Prompt(CMD).

Step 3: Now connect your external drive through USB port and type ‘Diskpart’ command in the prompt and hit ‘Enter’.

Step 4: Now type ‘list volume’ command to see all your disk drives that are connected to your computer. Check if you can see the external drive connected. Let us suppose the external partition drive letter be ‘F:\’.

Note: If you are sure about the external drive, then you can proceed with the process. If the external drive is not detected, try to change the USB port and if it still don’t work, try another external drive.

Step 5: Now go to source drive/partition where the data you needed to backup exists. For example, if you have your data in D:\ drive, type ‘D:’ and hit ‘Enter’.

Step 6: You have to be precise while backing up data as there may not be much storage available on external drive. So, check what folder you wanted to back up. To see all files and folders on the D:\ drive, type ‘dir’ and hit ‘Enter’.

Step 7: Now enter the following command to copy the entire folder and subfolders to the external drive. Let us suppose the source folder to be backed up be ‘MyData’ on D:\ drive. Then the command would be,

xcopy D:\MyData F:\ /E

It will copy all the files, folders and subfolders from the specified source to specified destination. It is from ‘MyData’ folder on ‘D:\’ drive to external drive ‘F:\’ in our case.

Let the copy finish and notify you a message on the prompt. When it is done, enter into another drive and repeat the same process. When you are done backing up all the required files and folders, go to external drive and confirm if the backed up files exists or not using ’dir’ command.

You may use other corresponding letters instead of /E at the end of the command. Here are what you can use and what they mean,

/P - Prompts you before creating each destination file.
/S - Copies directories and subdirectories except empty ones.
/E - Copies directories and subdirectories, including empty ones. Same as /S /E. May be used to modify /T.
/V - Verifies each new file.
/W - Prompts you to press a key before copying.
/C - Continues copying even if errors occur.

- If destination does not exist and copying more than one file, assumes that destination must be a directory.

/Q - Does not display file names while copying.
/F - Displays full source and destination file names while copying.
/L - Displays files that would be copied.
/H - Copies hidden and system files also.
/R - Overwrites read-only files.

- Creates directory structure, but does not copy files. Does not include empty directories or subdirectories. /T /E includes empty directories and subdirectories.

/U - Copies only files that already exist in destination.
/K - Copies attributes. Normal Xcopy will reset read-only attributes.
/N - Copies using the generated short names.
/O - Copies file ownership and ACL information.
/X - Copies file audit settings (implies /O).

- Suppresses prompting to confirm you want to overwrite an existing destination file.

- Causes prompting to confirm you want to overwrite an existing destination file.

/Z - Copies networked files in restartable mode.

Once the files and folders are backed up, you can convert the hard drive format (in case of GPT partition error) and fresh install Windows again.

Comment below if you face any problems in this process. I will be sharing the possible solution at my reach.

How Not to Overspend and Save Money on Hard Drives

Hard drives are the physical and accessible stage devices that we are using in this technology era. Mechanical, SSD or Cloud, whatever you call it by the name, the data will finally has to store in a physical device.

You might have learnt in the school days that computers’ hardware is perishable and can worn out with time. Of course, hardware would. Because they will be made form the earthly available materials only.

The bottom line is that we end up buying a new hard drive if anything goes wrong with the existing one. Sometime it is not about the buying a new hard drive, it is about saving the money.

Any hard drive with emulators and heavy tools installed will worn out sooner than expected. The best way to retreat the investment of money on new HDDs is to avoid ignoring the health status of the devices.

We have many HDD health showing tools available for both Windows, Mac and Linux. Some of these tools not only monitor the status of the health of the hard drive but also provide simple options to defrag, delete junk and optimize the drives at regular intervals.

Let’s see what should we focus on, in order to save money on hard drives maintenance and while buying them.

Avoid bad and incompatible software

Bad software means the programs that destroy the system software while running. Software like emulators and simulators destroy the hardware by force rendering the capability of the hardware to perform. They even overtake the control of the file system format on the local machines to operate the tools on the emulator with their native environment.

A hard drive of 500GB (suppose) will be divided into 450GB and 50GB (suppose the emulator assigned memory) for the emulator and that chunk of memory will be differently formatted for the native file support the emulator. This leaves the hard drive summarize the total storage on the computer as 450GB.

The emulator assigned memory can be retrieved later after removing the emulator software on the system but, the part of storage that was assigned will dump a lot of junk and bad clusters while re-formatting back to computer’s file format. This leaves the system loss some part of the hard drive storage as dead memory.

Use the emulators rarely. It is always better to buy a specific device or hardware instead of emulating it on the working system.

The less you use the emulators on the computer the less are the chances of hard drive failure. The less the chances of hard drive failure the less the chances of buying a new hard drive. Thus, your money will be saved.

Buy hard drives with large capacity at one time

You may not need the high capacity storage drives for your usage. But the need for data storage will never end. The greed for information will always open doors to storage expansion on your computer.

If you compare the prices of the storage devices, the larger capacity hard drives are cheaper than the lower capacity hard drives. For example, Seagate Expansion 1TB Portable External Hard Drive costs $55 where as same Seagate Expansion with 2TB Portable External Hard Drive costs just $80. The 5TB version of same Seagate Expansion Portable External Hard Drive costs just $130. Hope you got my point.

Buy/expand cloud storage instead of multiple hard drives

You can also save money on hard drives by opting for cloud storages. You can access your data anywhere with a computer having an internet connection. If you wanted to expand the storage, you would be having to upgrade to a higher storage plan. That’s it.

Pricing on the cloud storages will have to be paid monthly. If we take Google Drive as an example, spending $1.99 per month on 100GB monthly is a worthy investment if you are a power data user. Their highest plan is $299.99 for 30TB storage monthly.

If you are running a business, it is completely worth going for Google cloud storage.

Hope that helps!

Manage Disk Space On Your Computer Like a Professional

Handling hardware tasks especially operations and issues related to hard disks are a bit risky for non-professionals. It is the game of data that you will be playing there, when you lay your hands on your drive operations. If encountered any unfamiliar issues, they will give you sleepless nights.

Managing the disk space on your computer includes resizing, moving and merging the partitions as per the need and converting the disk formats to make them compatible for different operating systems. It would need a professional to perform the tasks with no failure of data safety.

The even better idea is to do it yourself. It not only helps you save the technician service costs but also teaches you how to do it next time for youself or for your neighbor (trust me! You’ll regret helping out your neighbor with his/her computer).

Let’s learn how to manage disk space for yourself

Step 1: Download this disk partition software, named Partition Master Professional from EaseUs software which is an efficient tool for managing the disk space on your computer very well. Its easy-to-use user interface allows any non-professional user take control of their hard disks without any hassle. It helps you create, merge, resize, copy, convert, wipe and defragment specific partition or the whole drive at your wisdom.

I use this software to manage hard disk space on my Windows 7 desktop PC and on my Windows 10 laptop as well.

Yes! It is compatible with Windows 10. That felt like a cherry on the cake when I read about it when I was suffering with the loss of 20GB hard drive space after installing Windows 10 on my Windows 8.1 laptop.

Step 2: After downloading, install it like as any other software on your computer in just few clicks.

I recommend you to buy this software instead of using a 7-day trail because some advanced operations will be restricted of their functionalities (fully) after the trail period.

Step 3: Run the software after installation. It will show the list of your drives and partitions in the home window.

Step 4: Right-click on the drive partition for options.

Choose an option of your choice and requirement and click on it to open the respective operation wizard.

What are these options mean and what they do?

The options provided in Partition Master Pro edition are the foremost disk operation options that are available for the disk technologies that we are using. However, a newbie will find it difficult in knowing the difference among them.

I’ll cover up all the options in the software so that you can be confident enough while using it. Also, EaseUs Software provides better support for this software through online and direct email. I’d recommend you to contact them to report any issues regarding the software. Amfas Tech is just covering all its features for your understanding.

Resize/Move Partition

It helps you resize or move an existing partition of the hard drive. You can increase or decrease the partition size or move it entirely onto another.

Points to remember:

  • Resizing partition may shrink or expand the size of the disk partition. You can only expand it if there is any space left empty on the drive or any another partition has been shrunken.
  • To move the space between volumes, there must be an unallocated space (may be the shrunken part from existing volumes) on the disk.

Copy Partition

Copy partition will copy down the whole partition on to another partition. The volume(s) can be duplicated so that you no need to worry about data loss while working on a partition.

Point to remember:

  • Make sure your destination partition have the same size (or more) as of the source partition size.
  • If the destination partition is undersized, the partition copying option may fail or copy only very less data on to the destination volume than existed.

Migrate OS to SSD/HDD

This is a life saver option that I like most. The operating system can be entirely copied on to another drive without losing the software configurations and settings. This option asks you to choose a destination disk to migrate the whole operating system to.

Points to remember:

  • It is not recommended to opt for this option if you are willing to do this operation as a virus removal process. Because, migrating OS will not remove viruses at all, instead copies all the crap onto the new drive also.
  • It is best option to opt, if you are facing any memory clogs with the current hard drive or facing any other disk issues with it and you don’t want to re-install the OS.

Merge Partition

This operation will help you merge more than one partition into one single partition at the possibility of merging two at a time.

Points to remember:

  • You can only merge volumes of same format and that too up to the size of 4TB as per the software capability.
  • You cannot merge boot partition onto system partitions or vice-versa. But, you can merge unallocated disk spaces to any format volumes.
  • EaseUs partition master pro can only merge basic volumes but not dynamic volumes.

Convert to logical

Primary volumes restrict the number of partitions to three/four at maximum. To have another partition along with the limited number of primary volumes, you should convert it into logical as you can add unlimited logical volumes after the primary volume restriction.

Points to remember:

  • You can only convert primary partitions to logical only when your hard disk’s partitioning scheme is MBR.
  • After the primary volume limitation is reached, you have to format the extra volumes to logical to have them shown.

All the above features perform key operations on the hard drive. The remaining options are to optimize it.

Change label – Changes the drive label.

Defragment – Cleans up the fragments chunks of memory on the drive and speeds up the data writing and reading.

Set Active – Sets the active boot partition where there are multiple operating systems on the drive.

Check Partition – Checks errors in the partition and removes them.

Exploration – Explores the content in the drive(s).

Properties – Shows the amount of usage and free memory on the disk.

Wrapping up

You might have got a brief idea and some confidence by now in managing hard disk space on your computer on your own. If you have got any serious problems using the software, you may contact the EaseUs support without any hesitation. I haven’t got any issues so far and hope you won’t find any at your side.

Note: If you are a newbie to computers and not aware of this technological terminology yet, better seek a technician rather spoil your drive and data on it.

Possible Solutions to DNS Errors After Changing URL in Webmaster Tools

Bloggers and webmasters often encounter DNS errors in Google Webmaster Tools. The message saying Over the last 24 hours, Google bot encountered 40 errors while attempting to retrieve DNS information for your site. The overall error rate for DNS queries for your site is 14.8%.” will worry you till it is resolved.

(The values seen in bold are variable from site to site)

We will discuss the possible solutions to this problem and will try to find a solution(for which you came here) that can solve your problem by the end.

Solution #1:

Check for error rating – If the error rating is closer or equal to 100%, check if name servers are correctly configured or not. Go to your domain registrar’s dashboard that is provided to you when buying the domain and set the values correctly. If you have no technical knowledge to change them for yourself, ask the registrar without any hesitation.

If you find no clue of how to contact your domain registrant, please check the email format designed by our friend +Rohan Chaubey:

To The [company name] Customer Support Team,

I recently bought a domain from your site. I am facing some DNS errors after changing the URL in the Webmasters tools. While checking for error rating I wanted to verify if name servers are correctly configured or not.

I possess no technical knowledge to change them myself. I would highly appreciate if your staff could help me in getting them configured correctly.

I am ready to bear any charges for your time and service if needed. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. I look forward to hear back from you soon.

[Your name].
[Account details or web address].

Solution #2

Upgrade your hosting plan – If the error rate is less than 100%, the problem might be caused due to server overload. This happens mainly due the following 7 reasons:
  1. Uncontrollable amount of natural web traffic trying to access the site within the same time.
  2. Distributed Denial of Service(DDoS) attacks on the server where you website is hosted.
  3. Uncontrollable amount of unusual or bot traffic sent to your website.
  4. Affected web browsers and computers due to viruses and worms.
  5. Because you have hosted your website on a limited capability host and you get excess number of client requests to access that page that your server cannot handle.
  6. Low speed internet connections finding it difficult sending request to servers and receive the response.
  7. Maintenance or repairing of web servers
The possible solution to this problem is upgrading the resources to your server and improving the configuration that can handle ample of client requests at once. Also, consider security features in order to avoid hacker attacks on your website.

Solution #3

Fixing DNS problems on your own computer – Sometimes, the DNS configuration on your own computer might get disturbed due to the recent changes you have made to your network or the changes made by your ISP.

To detect if the error is with your computer, ask your friends to check if they could open your website without any glitches on their side. If they could open your site normally from their side, it would definitely your computer configuration problem.

I have faced this situation in the past once and worried why my website alone is not working on my side. Later, with the help of my online friends, I could figure out the real problem is and changed and back the DNS configuration from Google to default.

Solution #4

Fetch as Google – This is the simplest solution ever for this problem. Use ‘Fetch as Google’ option in Google Webmaster Tools to tell Google bot to re-crawl your website once. It will Google to update the status of your website.

Perform this step even after solving the problem once. It will be helpful in reducing the ‘URL not found’ errors due to this DNS blackout.

Hope these solutions would help you get your problem solved. Please share if you have any other or better solutions than specified ones. We’ll update them in the article with an attribution of your name.

Also I would like to thank Rohan Chaubey, the wise soul in young body for helping us out with the letter format to contact the hosting providers. He’ll be with us from today, if you need any other help regarding the composing of any emails

How I Made My Faulty Creative 4.1 Sub-Woofer Speaker Work?

The feeling when you make some faulty thing work will surely make you sit on an iceberg for sure till next sunrise. It was my ‘Creative 4.1’ sub-woofer sound system that made me sit on a mountain today.

It hurts badly for a computer geek when he find his gadgets failing at abnormal times and they spending dis-functional for unknown time long. Don’t lift your eye-brow at me, it proves that you got no emotion chipset configured up there in your head.

I have noticed my 6 year old Creative 4.1 sound system failing to play music in one of the speakers among the four configured. This is how my tests went on:

Test #1: If all speakers are working fine?
This is the first and foremost test that will decide if the problem persists in speakers. Pull out the faulty speaker(s) and test it inserting into another(working) speaker’s port. If it speaks out, the speaker is good. Congratulations, you problem is not solved yet.

Test #2: If any dust obstructing the connectivity?
You know, dust is as inevitable as death. Check if the speaker ports are dusted. Blow off the dust and try to check connecting back the speakers to the ports. If it works, the job is not over yet. Share your story with us in comments below and that’s a request.

Test #3: Should it be opened?

Always believe in yourself, not in Tony Stark in Iron Man. Your homely dress up and geeky mind sometimes fools your identity matching part of your brain. In deed, opening up the sub-woofer without any knowledge of electronics is not a good idea and can give you ‘shock’ treatments. Though you do, don’t take the risk of opening it without testing it against all cases.

Speaker (s) not working

Test #4: If sound drivers are working fine?
Computer also gets sick sometimes. All those software will not wear out stories are not true in case of Windows operating system. Windows is very unstable operating system. Software might frequently wear out because of malware of viruses.

Check if drivers are affected due to recent virus attacks. Re-install drivers if you had recent experiences of virus cleaning activities on your computer.

Test #5: If right/left side speakers are muted?
Happens sometimes. Check your driver software or sound settings if the volume is muted on right/left side speakers particularly. This setting can be seen on audio drivers management software like ‘Realtek HD audio manager’.

Test #6: Have you check out every connection?
I don’t think so. You have only checked out the connection between the speakers and sub-woofer. What about the connection between your computer and the sound system?

Now, check the audio jack connecting CPU and sub-woofer. Check if I is in good condition or wore out. Pull them out and blow the dust off the ports and insert them again. If you have more number of slots than the number of pins, try changing the combination and test the speakers again. Congratulations if it works. If it’s not, decide a date and time to call a technician.

By the way, the last test made my faulty speaker work like before. otherwise, I would have opened the sub-woofer in excitement to check what’s inside. Excitement blind folds the intelligence sometimes. Believe me!

How Different is Android Lollipop 5.1 to 5.0?

Google Android Lollipop, the most awaited software update for Android smartphones has been evolved into Lollipop 5.1 with some rectifications and bug fixes that are found to be existed in v5.0 after being released for some handsets so far.

In this article, we’re going to take a look at those holes in the new materialistic OS and how they are fixed in this 5.1 version.

#1 ‘No audio’ problem solved:

Some of the lollipop upgraders have complained that they couldn’t hear any sound from any of the internet, apps, games and music sources.

Remedies and suggestions were made on Google forums to solve this problem but failed to help the trouble facers at last.

#2 ‘No silent mode’ problem solved:

Android lollipop 5.1 comes with no silent mode option. It might be a bit hard to expect Google mixing up the silent mode option with sound options. The three None, Priority and All options does the job for you in fact. Dragging the point to None will silent the phone in lollipop 5.0.

The legacy silent mode option is restored in lollipop 5.1 to avoid confusion for the users.

#3 Memory management improved:

The management of the memory of the phone is improved than in 5.0. The applications will work better and won’t eat up the RAM just as the previous versions do.

#4 System stability is improved:

The responsiveness of the phone while using heavy applications or games has been improved. The touch-now-and-respond-later issues will not be seen at most, even while using multiple applications at background.

#5 Improved battery life:

With the better memory management, the life of the battery is improved. You can notice the extended battery life in lollipop 5.1 compared to previous versions.

How to update to Android Lollipop 5.1?

This newer version of this Android operating system is only available for Google Nexus devices now. It may take sometime for the update to hit the smartphones manufactured by leading companies like Sony, Samsung and HTC and that too might be available for some high-end devices only.

Till then, all those lollipop 5.0 upgraders have to wait or degrade to the older operating systems to avoid any further risks from using it.

How to Bring Back Your Moto G from Dead?

Death is inevitable! But this is not true in case of digital devices totally. Though they seem dead, they can still be brought back by doing a little CPR(let’s assume).

It is the same in the case of Moto G. In the hard times or when you used the last changed particle in the battery, the phone dies(not actually). It neither switches on nor even charges. You can being it back from dead by doing the following tricks.

Trick #1:

Though it shows you like not charging, keep it in charge for 5-10 minutes and try to switch it on. Sometimes batteries die with no single drop of electric juice in them. Keeping them in charging for a little while can bring it back to life.

Trick #2

Do this if only trick #1 is not working. Try pressing the combo of power button and volume down button till it shows up some light or boot menu options on the screen.

Select the option ‘Normal Powerup’ from the list using the volume rocker. It will boot up normally and enjoy the life back on your phone.

Trick #3

This trick is a bit complicated and need your hands on its hardware. Do this only if the above two tricks are not working for you.

Note: Preforming this adventurous tweak might spoil your smartphone if done wrongly. Do it at your own risk. Don’t blame me or amfas tech if you spoil it in your own hands.

(That was not to scare you, but just a formal warning)

Before you do it, make sure you had the right tools with you.

Step 1: Open up the back cover.

Step 2: Take the right screw driver, and remove the battery carefully. Make sure you pulled of the battery connector safely.

Step 3: Eat some snacks and wash your hands neatly.

Step 4: Put back the battery. Make sure you plugged in the battery connector correctly.

Step 5: Put back the back cover and now try to switch it on or try trick #1.

This will help your device back from dead at most probability if the problem lies with battery draining. If it won’t still start up, don’t try your curiosity skills over it. Take it to the service center and let the real technician do the job for you.

Fixing Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death: Troubleshooting the Red Codes

Xbox 360 gaming console has a ring-of-light in the front panel with 4 red-green LEDs that indicates the working condition of the console. The green indicates the symbol of it working in good condition and the red indicates faults. The power indicator however will in green as long as the device is turned on.

The number of green quadrants of the console indicates the number of controllers connected to it. This adorable gaming console sometimes disappoints the gamer with the despicable red ring of light. The number of red quadrants shown means different problems as mentioned below,

1. If the quadrant on the lower right shows the red light, it means that there is a fault with the hardware components. A general error code will be displayed in this case(for e.g., E74).

Solution: Go to Xbox 360 support site and search for the error code shown. It will then give you proper instructions to solve the problem.

2. If the left two quadrants are shown red, it means that the problem caused due to the overheating of the device.

Solution: This error indicates the unusual increased level of temperature of the device’s CPU and GPU. The device then turns off itself and the fans then will run with high speed to cool them down. Once the device cools down, it works again.

  1. Place the device in cool environment.
  2. Make sure there is proper ventilation in the room.

3. If the quadrant on the right bottom and the two quadrants on the left are shown red together, it indicates the general hardware failure.

Solution: Check for the loose connections in the hardware connections, turn off the device, fix them tight and restart it again. Here, there would be shown no error code on the display.

4. If the total four quadrants are shown red, which is also called the Red-Ring-Of-Death, it means that there is a problem with the AV cable.

Solution: The ‘red ring of light’ is shown when there is a serious problem with the AV cable. Check your connection of AV cable to the console once, pull it off and plug it in again if needed and restart the console. This code will not be shown for the devices connected with HDMI cable.

For any further support, go to Xbox 360 support portal and you can communicate with the fellow gamers who might have already got the problem solved.

iPhone 6 Repair Guide Before Taking it to AppleCare

It’s just been two weeks hardly since the iPhone 6 was launched into markets and people started looking for repair manuals on the internet after watching the guy dropping his new iPhone 6 on the concrete floor while airing on Australia's live TV. He was the first guy to drop his iPhone 6 on live TV and he became an overnight star on social media.

You cannot escape from the unexpected accidents happen to your iPhone anytime anywhere. Not that I’m scaring you or not even it is final destination X I’m frightening you about.

You need not to afraid if something happens to your new iPhone 6. I am now going on with the tips to remember before you take your damaged iPhone 6 to the hospital, the Apple Care.

“Accidents happen. Sometimes a screen can get cracked or shattered. We’re here to help.” says Apple in their repair support page.

Repair and replacement cost varies with iPhone model and your AppleCare coverage. Replacing the screen costs about $109 for 4.7 inch version of the iPhone 6 and $129 for iPhone 6 plus just as iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5 costs. You will also be charged with the shipping fee of $6.95 exclusive of local taxes if you are a US citizen.

Remember that the accidental damage would not be considered under one year limited warranty. If you get to claim the warranty of your iPhone 6 at Apple store, they will diagnose your device first and will make sure it doesn’t have experienced any external damage.

Any external damages would cost extra out-of warrantee fee. The out-of-warrantee costs for the iPhone 6 is $299 and iPhone 6 Plus is $329 with shipping charges included.

Don’t forget to backup your iPhone 6 to iCloud if possible.

If you want to claim your ‘First one to drop new iPhone 6’ title, contact News9 Australia and narrate them your story. Just kidding!

What To Do When You Cannot Play Any Game On Facebook?

Gaming on facebook has ever been fun. The best part of it is that you don’t need to install any game on your computer or smart phone to play them. After all, you may need some basic tools like web browser and internet connection to play them.

However, even having the required tools, you may not able to play any games of facebook suddenly since last log in. There are many reasons for it and you can’t just suspect a single one.

What to do?

Before going to troubleshoot the problem, answer my following questions at first and proceed with the troubleshooting process.

  1. Have you installed any software program last time?
  2. Have you just ignored any warning it showed last time?
  3. Are you sure your computer is running good in the last few log ins?
  4. Have you installed any updates on your computer?
  5. Is your internet connection speed good?
  6. Did you check it on other browsers too?
  7. Have you played any new games on facebook last time?
  8. Do you find any suspicious warnings, unauthorized access notifications on your facebook in the past?

Solution 1: Re-enabling or Disabling the browser plugins

Any newly installed software might be conflicting with the plugins that are running on your browser. Check your software against vulnerability using your antivirus.

Sometimes installed programs disable the necessary browser plugins on the computer and installs the unnecessary ones. Re-enabling the necessary and disabling the unnecessary can solve your problem easily.

To re-enable/disable the plugins on Google Chrome, copy and paste the following path in your address bar and hit enter.

Tick or untick the plugins to enable or disable them. Make sure you have enabled the ‘Adobe Flash Player plugin’ first of all.

To re-enable/disable the plugins on Mozilla Firefox, copy and paste the following path in your address bar and hit enter.

Navigate to ‘plugins’ and and make sure you have enabled the ‘flash’ plugin fist of all and disable the unnecessary ones.

It is better to remove the programs that are conflicting with the browser plugins unless they are truly useful. I mean adware type of crapware specifically.

Solution 2: Caring about the warnings

The reason why most people fail to troubleshoot their computers is nothing but ignoring the warnings and notifications the operating system show. Every warning has its meaning and you just ignored the to understand.

Tune your computer by running the maintenance wizard on it or using a third party software. Download and install recommended updates on your computer after maintenance was done.

Never ignore any future warnings as they help you solve the problem in short time and in an easy way.

Solution 3: Finding the origin of the problem

You faced a problem with it today doesn’t mean that it is originated now. It might be because of the past problems you have been facing with your computer that are ignored.

Optimizing the computer, scanning for vulnerabilities and installing updates can help in most possible cases. If it doesn’t solve your problem, go for the operating system repair or reset your computer in case you are using Windows 8.

Solution 4: Re-checking installed updates

Installing updates would update your software on your computer. Updating software is not same as troubleshooting. The reason why I suggested you to go installation of software updates is to eliminate the possibilities of rising incompatibilities of latest technologies on your web browser and operating system.

Re-check the installed updates and explore if any conflicts were found among two or more programs. For example, some third party antivirus programs check for incompatible software on the computer before they start the installation wizard.

Solution 5: Check your internet connection

There is no point of checking all the above solutions before checking the internet connection as we are troubleshooting a gameplay online here. Check if your modem is working good. Check the speed of your internet connection and see if is quite enough to stream games online.

Solution 6: Make a check on other browsers too

You cannot play games on Facebook doesn’t mean that you cannot play it on other browsers too. Check if the game can be played on other browsers also or not.

If you can play it on other browsers, simply update the faulty browser or reinstall it.

If you cannot play it on other browsers too, go with the other solutions.

Solution 7: Played any new games on facebook?

An online gamer would ever be on hungry for new games. I know you are too.

Do you know that the most facebook hacks are happening are because of the games you play online?

There is a technique called tab nabbing technique through which a hacker can trick you to get your login credentials and can access your facebook without your consent.

The hacker might have blocked the most lovable game of yours in your facebook apps list.

Login to your account firstly and change your password. This time choose a strong password that is hard to understand and crack. Then unblock the app from your blocked app list.

Solution 8: Any suspicious activity on your facebook?

Every suspicious activity is not only because of some living hacker but also some potentially harmful code. Posts like Malaysian airlines flight found, John Cena died in the ring comes under those categories.

Facebook spam links look seductive and all it wanted is a click on it. Once clicked they will spread to your friends lists and their timelines and inboxes so viciously.

Use a good antivirus+internet security program and keep it updated from time to time. It can at least warn you not to proceed with the link you have clicked there by stopping the activity of the code before it shows an effect on your profile.

Hope I covered the most possible cases and solutions. Though, there might be some other reasons also for not allowing you to play games on facebook.

Facebook Video Calling Troubleshooting Guide

We often come about some issues regarding the video calling on facebook. Here is the troubleshooting guide for video calling on facebook with solutions for mostly raised issues.

Case #1: Call disconnects upon connecting – Facebook video call runs with the help of Skype plugin. Skype have difficulties running on low speed bandwidth connections. If you are a regular Skype user, you would have noticed this issue earlier. But Facebook can even run on low speed bandwidth connections.

Bandwidth may not be the only cause for quick disconnections. If you are sure about your internet speed and think it is because of another unknown reason, report the issue to facebook.

Case #2: Showing “Software is temporarily  unavailable” – This error might be because of Skype plugin again. Try restarting the tab or web browser, if it doesn’t work, try it on another browser. If nothing works, try to reinstall the video calling plugin for the browser.

You can also remove the old plugin from programs >uninstall a program option in control panel in Windows. To remove the plugin in Mac OS X, search for FacebookVideoCalling file and delete it.

Case#3: Error while installing video calling software – Check if there are any blocking rules applied to your username on your computer. If you are the only one using computer with administrator privileges and sure about software installing authorization on your computer, it might be a bug on facebook. Report the bug to facebook or wait till is fixed by themselves.

Case #4: Video call quality is too low – The quality of the video call may not always depend upon the speed of the internet connection. It might be because of the outdated web browser you are using. Update your web browser in this case.

The quality of the webcam should also be considered here. You could never make a quality video call unless you have a high quality web camera. Upgrading your web cam to high quality one can make the difference.

Pause all the downloads and close all unused applications to improve the performance of the video call.

If you are trying to make the video call from your laptop, make sure it is not running out of battery or in power saving mode.

Case #5: Other person can’t see you or vice versa – This happens when there is problem with your webcam. Go to control panel and configure the default webcam device.

Case #6: Headset/Microphone isn’t working – Check if your headset pins are correctly plugged in. If correctly plugged in, check if your headset is set as the default device or not.

Also check your microphone/headset’s mute button. Some headsets are muted by default when they are plugged out, we need to turn them back to unmute state.

Hope that helps!

Did you ever face any problem with facebook video calling? How did you come over the issue at last? Share your bad video calling experience in comments.

Since Microsoft has ended support for Windows XP, users who didn’t want to upgrade their PC’s for some reasons were started to struggle in the misery.

Though there is a need to upgrade, people don’t wanted to take any kind of risks regarding the productivity. It is obviously true by the fact that the 95% of the computers in the world are using Windows XP. Taking from home to office desks, the upgradation would benefit Microsoft a lot of bucks. Small companies even don’t wanted to take any financial risks regarding the upgrade.
