Under the hood

Under the hood of Nexus 5x is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor ticking at 1.8 GHz. The phone will have 2 GB LPDDR3 RAM  on board. It is accompanied by Adreno 418 GPU to boost the gaming and graphics experience on this pure android. The phone was about to get launched in Android 5.1 Lollipop. But the recent Android 6.0 Marshmallow launch verified that Nexus 5x will also operate on Marshmallow out-of-the-box.

The phone has no option of external storage but offers you to choose from 16 GB or 32 GB variants.

This is a dual camera device that has 12.3 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. The rear camera delivers high end photos because of the dual-tone dual LED Flash and laser autofocus. Other features of the camera are geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, photo sphere, HDR, dual recording and video recording at 2160p @ 30fps. The front and rear camera aperture is f/2.0.

The phone is a storehouse of sensors. The first one is the fingerprint sensor which we have discussed earlier. It’s present on the rear panel below the main camera. The Nexus 5x has Sensor Hub (microcontroller unit that gather data from various sensors and processes them) and Android Context Hub (helps increasing battery life and adds more inventive features as promised by Dave Burke).

The other sensors includes Accelerometer (helps determining the acceleration of a body in motion), Gyroscope (helps determine the orientation of the gadget), Proximity sensor (helps in determining the nearby objects without any physical contact), Ambient light sensor (helps adjust brightness in the device) and Hall sensor (helps turning the screen off when covered).

Over to you

We have discussed detailed features of Nexus 5x. Its price in India is tagged at Rs. 31,990 which is certainly a huge amount for an average Indian buyer. The phone has some good points like the battery, latest Android version but on the other hand but it has very low RAM (compared to nowadays android phones), the processor might have heating issues and an average rear camera. I wouldn’t go for this phone if I had so much with me. I’d go for something better in this range or perhaps cheaper. So what have you thought, let us know in the comments below.
