Moto X Style Review: Specifications, Pros and Cons Compared to Samsung Galaxy S6 & Note 5, LG G4 and iPhone 6S

Motorola is up with another flagship killer, Moto X Style, the premium version of Moto X, right after few days of releasing the middle range budget smartphone Moto X Play. It’s specifications, when compared to the world’s most loved and leading smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 5, LG G4 and iPhone 6S stresses the same. Let’s see what this Moto X Style (aka Moto X Pure) has got when compared to the big shots in the business.

Design

Motorola has continued the similar design of Moto X Play for Moto X Style too. This Moto X device is larger than the any other Moto X devices that were released so far. With the blended around frame and position of the buttons and ports, Moto X Style has got a beautiful design but yet larger in hand to hold with 153.9x76.2x6.1-11.06mm dimensions. That reminds me of Nexus 6 in size and design.

Moto X Style is available in black lens with dark gray frame and accents/black soft feel inlay and white lens with silver frame and accents/Bamboo inlay. When compared to the top grossing smartphones in the market, Moto X Style looks no better than any of the Samsung Galaxy S6 & Note 5 and iPhone 6S in reality. But, it looks better than the leather like back panel of LG G4.

Display

Moto X Style comes with larger 5.7 inch Quad HD display that can render 1440x2560 HD resolution pictures speeded over with 520ppi on the screen. The large screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, but it could be Gorilla Glass 4 which is available even for budget devices like Asus Zenfone 2 Laser now.

Moto X Style’s display is bigger when compared to market leaders like iPhone 6S & 6S Plus, LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy S6 but as same as Samsung Galaxy Note 5’s and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus’s.

Bigger displays won’t count the X factors of the device. It’s only a choice for the buyer. If you need some device which is little smaller than Nexus 6 or any other 6 inch smartphone in the market, Moto X Style stands as one among the 5.7 inch devices that are available so far.

Processor & RAM

Moto X Style is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Hexa-core CPU ticking at 1.8GHz supported by Adreno 418 GPU, Natural Language Processor (NLP) and Contextual Computing Processor (CCP) along with 3 GB DDR3 RAM. The processing capability of this device is truly a powerhouse.

Storage

Moto X Style is released in three memory variants 16 GB/32 GB/64GB and it can be expanded up to 128 GB through micro SD card. It outsmarts iPhone 6S, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Note 5 variants which lacks micro SD support.

Camera

The camera is wonderful on Moto X Style. It has got 21 MP rear facing camera with dual tone flash and 5 MP front facing camera with single tone flash. When compared, Moto X Style’s camera stands out among the camera specifications of the rest of the market leaders’. The outdoor camera experience of the device is yet to be tested.

Connectivity

Moto X Style supports LTE cat. 6 (up to 300 Mbps), WCDMA, CDMA, EV-DO, TD-SCDMA, GSM/EDGE networks that operate in UMTS GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), UMTS/HSPA+ (800, 850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz), 4G LTE (B1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 20, 25, 28, 40, 41) bands.

It also has GPS, NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, micro USB, 3.5mm headset jack connectivity features in common.

Battery

Moto X Style has got a 3000mAh battery with turbo charging feature that charges the phone to standby 10 hours in just 15 minutes. Fast charging batteries are always the one to watch out for. Because they drain faster too.

Flagship Features

The following features makes Moto X Style stand out among the rest of the market leaders.
  • Dual front facing stereo speakers
  • Turbo fast charging (10 hours of battery life in 15 minutes)
  • Water-proof design
  • Micro SD memory expandability
  • Pure Android
  • Many color choices to choose from

Pros

+ Pure android
+ 21 MP camera
+ Both sides flash
+ Turbo fast charging
+ 4K video recording

+ Large screen
+ Water-proof design
+ Cheap compared to other market leaders

Should you buy it?

Motorola has made a device to battle both the handful sized and note sized versions. It’s a bigger screen and processing specifications gives a thought to own one instead of spending a few more bucks on any of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Note 5, LG G4 and iPhone 6S. If you want a device in your low premium budget that can do things as the best in the field, Moto X Style is the best choice.
