5 Expected Issues To Come In Micromax Canvas Sliver 5

Here we are again, to discuss the world’s slimmest phone of the year 2015, Micromax Canvas Sliver 5. You might have already read the whole technical specifications, pros and cons of the device by now in our review. If you haven’t yet, I recommend you to go through the review before reading this speculations post.

#1 Light weight issues

As we have seen, the 97 grams of weight and 5.1 mm thickness of Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 will give the air light feel while holding it in the hand. Believe me, light weight is not always good in all perspectives.
  • Light weight phones might get cracked easily under little application of pressure.
  • Also, you will have no idea if you are carrying it in your pocket or just dropped it in last location. So you might have to check your pockets very often if you are a stuff leaver.

#2 Heating issues

Heat generates when the processor is overloaded with multi-tasking. A 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor is enough to generate heat with excessive multi-taking on the phone.

The slim ergonomics of Sliver 5 might not help the generated heat escape that easily. I wonder the phone’s positive feature could turn to give negative effects at the end. It however better to be careful with ‘sharp edged’ things.

#3 Memory issues

Smartphones with no memory expandability is a problem in real time. People want to keep their photos, videos, music and files in one device.

Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 comes with 16 GB in-built memory with no further expandability externally. Of that 16 GB, only 11 GB is only usable.

#4 Lollipop issues

Sliver 5 comes with Android v5.0.2 Lollipop on the board. Lollipop 5.0.2 have a lot of bugs and the smartphone companies are struggling to patch them up with their updates. Hope Micromax provides some patches from time-to-time.

Also, the upgradation of the operating system to the next version, Lollipop 5.1 is promised by Micromax. In case that happens, Canvas Sliver 5 buyers have to accept the ‘buggy facts’ related to software and just go with them all the time.

#5 Battery issues

Weak battery is always a big minus for any smartphone, no matter how stylish it looks and how powerful the processor is. As Sliver 5 is coming up with Snapdragon 410 processor and 2 GB RAM, the 2000mAh little powered battery cannot hold the charge even for 6 hours on moderate usage.

One last word

Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 is a greatly designed lightweight smartphone that every style maker would to love to have. It has a good processor and supporting physical memory to entertain multi-tasking. The design ergonomics are excellent and also could raise issues related to the things that we have discussed above.

Note: All the speculations made above are based on its hardware and software configurations only. The experience of using the device hands-on might be different from the expectations thought of.

  1. I am not a great fan of a thin phone. As the mm war intensifies, there has to be sacrifices made. When I have a handset in hand, it needs to feel heavy and chunky. It gives a certain tactile feel, like the feel of typing on a keyboard.
And also the heating issues, they will be very high for thin handsets.

  2. Yes Amsang, you are absolutely right. Sacrifices has to be made if you want a thin phone. But they should not cut off the flexibility of using technology. Manufacturing thin phones won't actually matter unless they are made the same powerful and efficient compared to those of bold ones.

Thanks for leaving your thoughts about it.

    Have a great day :)
