Pinterest Introduces New Extension for Google Chrome, Sets Inspiring HD Backgrounds for Every New Tab

Pinterest has launched a new extension, Pinterest Tab for Google Chrome that starts your day with inspiring HD backgrounds each time you open a new tab on your Chrome browser. The extension is available for free and can be installed in a couple of seconds for your chrome.

The Pinterest Tab comes packed with high resolution photographs taken from art-collecting and education resource Artsy, photo community 500px and National Geographic’s photo community. You can choose multiple categories from the listed ones to get the photographs displayed in background when you open a new tab on the browser.

The categories listed are cute, fashion, art, travel, sports, gardening, people, food, photography, science and nature, cats, design, architecture, wild animals.

The Pinterest Tab will greet your day with time and weather forecast in the bottom of the tab window. If you don’t like the photograph shown, you can reset it by simply clicking on the reload button on the top right. Also, you are allowed to select or deselect the categories anytime by clicking on the ‘+’ button on the top right.

The Pinterest Tab also can be used to pin images on the webpages as it used to be. It was developed in 24 hours of time as a workload relief project by the Pinterest team.

“That’s exactly how this project got its start: just me, a small group of dedicated Pinterest employees and a whole lot of coffee.” says Ludo Antonov of Pinterest in pinterest blog.
