Apple Adds Extra Security Features to iCloud with Extra Notifications

Apple Inc. finally responds to the recent massive icloud leak of private photos and videos belonged to famous Hollywood actresses. The company has announced some extra security features to iCloud here by to ward off hackers from reaching iCloud privacy any more.

The new security feature will alert users through email and push notifications when someone tries to change password, restore iCloud data to a new device or when a new device logs into an account for the first time. We have seen email notifications while changing password and when a new device is logged into the account so far. The new feature added is the getting of notifications while restoring the icloud data on to new device. The new feature for iCloud is announced to be starting in two upcoming weeks.

“The celebrities iCloud accounts were compromised because the hackers might have answered the security questions or the celebrities were victimized by a phishing scam to obtain user IDs and passwords.” says the Chief Executive of Apple Inc. to the wall Street Journal in an interview.

“When I step back from this terrible scenario that happened and say what more could we have done, I think about the awareness piece. I think we have a responsibility to ratchet that up. That's not really an engineering thing." Mr. Cook adds to his previous statement.

We have seen Apple’s security guide for iCloud earlier in the previous article and I recommend you to go have a look at it. Apple also announces the enhanced security of two-factor authentication covering the iCloud accounts on the devices in its future release of iOS later this month.

The massive leak of iCloud however increased the negative publicity of Apple company which is what it is managing to avoid. But the popularity of the victimized celebrities have magnified the situation as a flip.

Hope Apple would manage to get rid of it by the launch of its new iOS and iPhone 6 or else it have to face the consequences on the sales.
