Google Local Search Algorithm Update July 2014 Slashes Global Queries

Google have rolled out with new local search algorithm that provides more accurate search results in your locality. This is no spam reduction but a refinement to the local search results.

This new search algorithm have shown impact local queries till then and going but Google haven’t officially disclosed percentage of queries affected yet. As per the changes seen in search results till now, it seems like a significant number of queries were affected with this update. Local businesses might already have experienced the rise or drop in domestic traffic to their sites by now.

Google is running this algorithm update like water under the mat and there is no official news update on this yet. This algorithm change have rolled out on Google Maps and Google Web Search only for now and expected to be implementing on to other searches also.

As per the information said by Google to major SEO blogs, the algorithm is rolling out on US English queries only for now and aims to provide more accurate local search results. Google seems like not going to share the information publicly until the update is implemented in majority of the countries and places. So not yet given a name for it.
