How to Transfer Your FeedBurner Subscribers from Old Blog to New

FeedBurner is the most popular web feed management system which is used by most of the bloggers over the world to notify their blog's updates to subscribers. Visitors of the blog subscribe to the feed of particular blogs which they find interesting and useful. Thus blogs with more subscribers will get genuine traffic which in turn help them get high page ranks.

If you wanted to upgrade your blog to new URL and don't want to loose all your subscribers, better to migrate all your subscribers to your new blog without any loss of subscriptions. Follow the instructions to transfer your subscribers from old blog to new one.

  1. Go to feedburner.google.com and sign in with your credentials.
  2. Now you'll be able to see the list of your blogs associated with that email.
  3. Click on the new blog you wanted to transfer subscriptions to. Then click on Edit feed details. Copy the URL from the Original Feed field.
  4. Now go to your old blog, click on Edit feed details and paste the copied URL in the Original Feed field. then Save feed details.
  5. After saving you will be shown the success status message saying "You have successfully updated the feed".
  6. Now click on Delete feed option in the old blog and tick the check box asking 'permanent redirection'. Then click Delete feed.

Your old blog's feed will be permanently deleted and redirected to the source feed which is configured in Step 4. When you come back to feedburner homepage, you would see the old blog like as shown in the screenshot below:

Click on view this feed link to view the newly configured feed in XML format. When you update your blog(new), the subscribers of the old blog will also get notified with newly configured feed.

You can choose to click on Delete Permanently if you want to delete your old blog forever. Deleting blog feed permanently would cost you the loss of number of subscribers who already have subscribed to your old blog. Go with this option only if you are pretty sure about what you are doing!
