Moto G - The budget KitKat phone gives a tough fight | Review

Finally, the most awaited smart phone, Moto G with most awaited Android KitKat is out in markets now. It is available in Flipkart, but you have to book your order. This product got huge hype before its release. Why? what made this product so popular? let’s figure it out together.

Moto G is the product of Motorola and it is a known fact that Google acquired this company a few months ago. Though it is Google that started looking about the company’s future, it could not make it’s foot prints in the market. This budget gadget would make its mark in the smart phone market and the company is pretty confident about its success.

Exploring the WOW factors in Moto G

The rumored features of this phone are responsible for its popularity. Let’s check out how far they come true in reality.

It features Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1.2GHz quad-core CPU which runs the daily tasks much decently. 1.2GHz quad-core CPU might not be the factor, but the price it comes for matter for those who wanted to buy it.

The 1GB RAM is good enough to run high graphical applications smoothly along with the snapdragon 400 quad-core processor.

It has sharper HD 4.5’ display screen with 329ppi. The screen with this amount of pixel density gives sharp, vivid and crystal clear display. Watching videos, browsing through photos, reading text gives a captivating experience. I should confess the fact that it had the as sharper display as Samsung Galaxy S4 had. It really worth buying if compared with that big boss.

Moto G comes with Android 4.3 pre-installed and also with guaranteed upgrade of Android 4.4 Kitkat. This would make this gadget the first KitKat budget phone of the year.

The 2070mAh Li-ion battery contributes its best to stay connected all the time and listen to music for multiple hours. No smart phone battery could tolerate the mixed usage for long hours but Moto G can. It can hold up to 24 hours of continuous mixed usage. Isn’t this great?

The camera is not so surprising with its megapixels on the front as well as on rear. The 5MP is not new for budget phones by the fact. The same megapixels camera comes with Rs.5,000-6,000 range phones too. It’s not disappointing and it is over expected. Other than that the camera comes with LED flash, Auto HDR and you can shoot videos in slow motion. The 1.3 M camera is good enough to take selfies that are to be shared in online chats.

It allows two micro SIMs with Global GSM support of GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) UMTS/HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz) and CDMA support of CDMA/EVDO Rev A (850, 1900 MHz).

It have 3G, Wi-Fi with 802.11 b/g/n standards and Bluetooth of version 4.0. It also has micro USB connectivity just like any other smart phone these days.

Moto G have the proximity, accelerometer, ambient light and hall effect sensors. These give better experience while making calls, gaming and screen rotation.

Moto G is available in 8GB and 16GB just like iPhone. The prices are very exceptional for both ranges. Moto G 8GB is available for Rs.12,499 and Moto G 16GB is for Rs.13,999 in Flipkart. These prices may or may not vary in future, but this is definitely a great phone to have. Wishing all the best for Motorola for this year.
