IRCTC Now Allows 7,200 Ticket Bookings Per Minute | Indian Railways Launches New e-Ticket Booking System, Mobile App and Smart Card

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation(IRCTC) have launched a new e-ticket booking system eliminating all the the odds in old system on Wednesday. The new system was launched at the Indian railway head quarters, New Delhi.

The old system allowed 2,000 e-ticket bookings per minute where as the new one allows 7,200 tickets per minute. There by, the new system allows 1,20,000 ticket bookings at a time, upgrading the old system’s capacity of only 40,000 at once.

“The Center for Railway Information System(CRIS) have spent 180 crore rupees  for the launching of the new ticket booking system. The whole ticket booking process was simplified and fastened compared to the old process” says the Indian railway minister Mr. Sadananda Gowd to media.

Also Introduces Mobile App & Go India Smart Card

Along with the new e-ticketing system, railway minister have also lunched a new mobile application and Go India smart cards that work based on the latest IT technologies.

“Go India smart cards will reduce the waiting time in ticket booking counters. Passengers can use this smart card for booking tickets under reserved, unreserved and sub-urban categories. These are available with life time validity and will be issued for Rs.70 at the ticket counters in your nearby railway station. Smart cards are to be recharged and the highest amount one can recharge it with is Rs.1000.” says officials to media at the launch.

Hope people would stop cursing IRCTC from now. Some at least.
