The recent announcement of Samsung has lifted off the anxiety over the Galaxy S5. It was announced to be released in April 11th of this year. The specifications of S5 are quite decent and justifies the title 'next generation phone'. Samsung have made a number of improvements to Galaxy S5 and this may have some adverse effects on price and availability. It is hard to talk about the specifications before the release of the device. Specifications

Design

Samsung introduced new iconic design for Galaxy S5. When compared to its proceeder Galaxy S4, it looks with different skin and nothing more upgraded regarding the plastic material. But S5 shows off a leathery look on its back panel. It is almost as slim as S4 when it comes to thickness of the device.

Galaxy S5 comes with 5.1'' inch Super AMOLED display with 432ppi sharper screen. The additional 2k resolution of display gives a great HD experience of watching movies and gaming.

Galaxy S5 designed to survive upto 3 feet  under water. It also gives firm grip hold when compared to Samsung Galaxy S4's sleek smooth panel.

Display

Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with 5.1'' inch super AMOLED display with 432ppi gives sharper QHD display of 2550x1440 resolution. When a HD video is played, additional 2k resolution would be added to the current resolution giving it a the true redefined HD experience.

The device's display can be turned into black and white colour mode to save battery in low battery situations.

Processor and Memory

There was a huge rumour regarding the processor of Samsung Galaxy S5. It is said that it comes with 64-bit architecture processor but the news was just limited to another tech-rumour.

The new big brother of galaxy family comes with a slight upgrade of 2.5GHz SnapDragon 801 processor (32-bit architecture) series. It is not that much great upgrade compared to Samsung Galaxy S4's LTE advanced model with 2.3GHz SnapDragon 800 SoC(System on Chip).

The system memory is not upgraded from 2GB(RAM). This device is available in both 16GB and 32GB inbuilt memory classes. This external memory can be expandable to 128GB through external SDcard.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a finest upgrade of camera. It was improvised from 13MP to 16MP on the rear and 2MP on the front as usual.

The camera is revamped with HDR and video stabilization features that allow us to record videos with 1920x1080 resolution.

It also comes with LED flash along with the rear camera and Samsung claims that Samsung S5 has world's fastest auto focusing feature. The company says that Galaxy S5 can auto focus on the subject in 1/3rd of the second. 

The camera of Galaxy S5 is also equipped with BSI sensor and shutter lag features that are good enough to take better photographs.

Operating System

Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with Android v4.4.2 Kitkat version. As this version of operating system is already available with Samsung Galaxy S4, it looses its priority.

New Features

Samsung Galaxy S5 comes up with new features like under water & dust resistance and fingerprint scanner. Water & dust resistant smart phones are already introduced in the market by Sony and finger print scanner is already introduced by Apple iconic iPhone.

It also comes with LTE Category4 and fifth generation Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac HT80, MIMO (2x2)) with Download booster application that will help faster connection and wireless data transfer.

Some built in health apps with dedicated sensors like Health v3.0 with heart-rate sensor also included.

Kids and Private mode to keep the phone secured when giving into the hands of small children and friends. 

Release Date

The Samsung's big brother is set to release in the April of 2014. The release date is expected to be in between April 8-11th of this year.

Price

The new finger print scanner and water & dust resistance features, improvised camera, processor and memory might cost a bit higher than Galaxy S4. It is expected to be in between 46k-52k Indian rupees.
