Asus Zenfone 5 Review: In Search of Incredibleness

The Taiwanese tech major, Asus is set to release its new series of smart phones, named Zenfone series in India this month. The computer manufacturing company peeked into smart phone market with its first Fonepad voice calling tablets last year which showed success in the market.

The success of the Fonepad voice tablet boosted up the spirit of the company to introduce Zenfone series in India now. Asus is set to introduce Zenfone4, Zenfone5 and Zenfoen6 into the Indian market in the earlier weeks of this month. As the names suggest, the three Zenfones from Asus are going to feature 4, 5 and 6 inch display screens on the devices.

In search of Incredibleness

Zenfone comes with plastic body and concentric circle design in the low-end front panel and on the power and volume buttons. The slight curved back panel give a firm grip of the device when using. Zenfone 5 stands ‘tall’ in the tight competition. Yes I mean it! The device unlike other big screen phones is a bit taller but no that crappy.

The 5 inch display with 720x1280 pixels will give sharper display on the screen. It is protected by the layer of gorilla glass 3 technology that resists screen against visible scratches.

The powerful 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor is good enough to run powerful android applications and the support of 2GB RAM run multiple tasks at a time smoothly on the device. One can run high graphical games on the device without any lag and with multiple tasks already running in the background. The processor and RAM are incredibly fabulous.

Zenfone is an Android phone and runs on the Android 4.3 operating system and is upgradable to 4.4 KitKat. So, operating system is not an issue if it can be upgraded. The device comes with 8GB internal memory and it can be expanded up to 64GB through microSD card.

The camera in Zenfone5 is another incredible asset for Asus. It comes with dual camera, the rear one with 8MP and front one with 2MP making it possible to make quality video calls unlike other high budget devices. The rear camera is capable of taking vibrant colored and detailed pictures. It preforms good at different lighting conditions and delivers a little noise in photographs in worst lighting conditions.

The creative modes of camera like rewind are featured in the device which starts recording the images two seconds before and one second after pressing the shutter button and captures 31 pictures of total and presents them on the screen to choose one to save from. The other features of camera like HDR, panorama, night mode, low-light, selfie mode which detects face in the frame automatically and GIFs that records sequential shots and animates adds awesomeness to imaging.

The battery 2110mAh can hold the charge up to 24 hours on moderate usage making it powerful to with stand the incredibleness.

Another incredible feature of Zenfone 5 is the Asus’s custom ZenUI. It takes sometime to get used to it for the first time but it feels new and new is good. The skin applies to several parts of the UI but not that much customized as Gionee’s Amigo UI and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. The slight tinkering of UI to give a new look for Android 4.3 is good and the trick worked for Asus with Zenfone 5.

Zenfone 5 was rumored to be priced around 15k to 20k rupees in India. The powerful processor, 2GB RAM, revamped UI and 5 inch gorilla glass screen in one device might tag above 20k rupees in the market but the rumored price is a great relief for those who wanted to use a powerful Android phone.

We may have to wait till the market price is announced and I believe it is going to be less than the best in the market.

You can register for the launch event of the phone and can win exciting prizes on the go.
