7 Ways to Reduce Bounce Rate and Increase Subscribers

If you are reading this then do not expect miracles. If reducing bounce rate and increasing subscribers were so easy, then everybody would be doing it. Added to which, if you have not paid for this content, then you can rest assured that this information is common knowledge. However, being a good kisser and how to paint a ceiling is common knowledge, and yet some people are still bad at it. So have a look through the seven methods on this article and see if you can apply them to your campaign.

1. Remove pop-up adverts and mandatory click/like adverts

These are the biggest bounce rate expanders in the history of the Internet, especially if people have to “like” a page before they are allowed access to it. There may be a lot of likes on the Facebook page in question, but there are thousands of people who are simply not willing to be beaten into clicking “like” on their Facebook profile just so that they can see a web page. Unless your website was built to target complete morons, it is best if you remove this sort of pop-up.

2. Remove all auto-start video and audio content/adverts

These are the most annoying things on the Internet to date. They are especially annoying since most people open up a lot of tabs on their browser when they use Google. They open up results so that they can flick through them at their leisure. Most people will close the browser and start all over again if it means they do not have to listen to the auto-start audio or video on a website. Even YouTube have installed new programming that means their videos don’t auto start if you have other video tabs open and are not currently viewing the video tab.

3. Make sure your website renders and loads very quickly

This is essential, as people will often bounce quite quickly from a website if it takes a while to render. Some do it because it is inconvenient to wait and others do it because they assume that slow rendering websites are full of malware. People are often inpatient when it comes to pages loading too, so do not be surprised if people bounce from your website when it starts to become slow to load when they access it.

4. Make sure your backlink and landing pages are in mutual agreement

You have to make sure they are positively in cahoots. The backlink must promise something that the landing page delivers. You have to imagine that the link is a question and the landing page is the answer. If you set people up with an expectation, then they will bounce if that expectation is not met. This downright dumb idea that all you need to do is expose people to your great marketing on your landing page and they will buy is crafted by the ignorant to enthrall the dumb.

5. Give people high quality content as soon as they land

This may seem like a bit of an obvious tip, but it is sadly forgotten with a lot of websites, especially the ones that have rushed web pages just to get something online. If you have high quality and relevant web content that is useful, then why would someone want to bounce? Why would they not stick around and return at a later date? Just make sure it is relevant to the person landing on the page ala tip number 4.

6. Do not start with marketing, as you have already made the page hit

Consider the fact that they got to your website your “win” so there is no need to keep marketing to the consumer. There may be a marketing process ready to go, since they now have to buy your products or read your posts, but leave that for a little later. Now that they have landed on your page, it is time to give them some choices as to where they go now.

7. Give people at least three choices via your first landing page

This is a standard manipulation tactic that few people know about. If you give people just one or two options as to where to go when they land on your page, then they feel railroaded and will bounce. If you give them too many choices then they will quickly navigate to a place they do not want to be and will end up leaving the site.
