How to Get Notified When Someone Mentions You or Your Blog in their Blog Post(s)

Among all the curiosities that an average blogger possess, curiosity to know when their name or blog mentioned anywhere in someone’s content is the sweetest. When you are creating wonderful and helpful content, someone someday will surely award their gratitude to you in their blog/content.

It would be a prestigious moment for any blogger as it puts their identity on to level n+1 by then. The unfortunate thing is that only a few bloggers would come to know about it whereas some would not.

I guess you don’t want to be in those ‘would-not’ list. Do you?

What if you don’t try to know about it?

Nothing would happen and your blogging life goes on as it has been so far.

Wait! Are you a ‘thank-god-for-today’s-food’ human?

I don’t think you are of so kind. Because you would not have chosen to blog if so.

As you know, blogging is all about making connections(rather than writing content always). Making connections through healthy interactions would build your reader base thereby justifying your auspicious write-ups.

You are on the right track, don’t just skip away

If this is about making connections with some random readers who often like, share and comment on your blog posts, getting in touch with those who express their gratitude to you is a great idea.

(Extra battery for your torch: Some people or some fellow blogger might have found your content useful and helpful to them in their needy times. So, they’d mention your or your blog’s name as an expression of gratitude in their blog post or content.

Or someone else who don’t want to re-write all the points that you have already mentioned in your blog post would give credits referring your blog name or your name in their article.)

Isn’t it?

So, how to get notified when someone mentions your or your blog name in their blog posts?

That’s no horse ride. We can achieve this easily with the help of a Google product, Google Alerts.

Google Alerts?

Yes, Google Alerts.

Don’t bit your tongue if you already knew about this. Save your ‘Really? Are you kidding me?’ face for some other situation.

Just follow the steps said below, to configure email alerts for your mentions.

Step 1: Sign into Google Alerts page with the email that you wanted to get alerts to.

Step 2: Give your name or your blog name in the search field. You will be shown the preview of results on the internet matching the terms given.

Step 3: Before clicking on the ‘Create Alert’ button, click on the ‘Show options’ link and set your preferences.

You can here choose ‘how often’ to get the updates, ‘sources’ to search results from, ‘language’ in which search to be performed, ‘Region’ within which you wanted to monitor the results, ‘How many’ results you wanted to receive and finally confirm the ‘Deliver to’ email ID.

Once you are done with the settings, click on ‘Create Alert’.

Step 4: Show your love in the comments below.

That’s it! Hope that helps :)
