How to Make Windows 8.1 Bootable USB with PowerISO

If you want to install Windows 8.1 on your computer, you can do it in two simple and popular ways. One is through the DVD and another is through USB drive(pen drive).

Computers, particularly laptops are not coming with DVD ROM drives these days. The rest of the configuration would be good but lacks only the DVD ROM. What would you do if you want to install operating system on your own on such laptops?

You should opt for the second option, installing operating system through USB drive. installing operating system through USB drive is neither that easy nor that hard.

A simple copying of operating system files from DVD to USB with the help of another computer will not help you solve the problem.

There is only one way and that is by downloading ISO file of the operating system that you had with you and entering the product key later after installing it.

To download the operating system’s ISO file go to Microsoft.com and download the genuine ISO file so as to make sure it is free from any Trojans or backdoor viruses.

You’ll also have to download and install PowerISO software on your computer. After you installed the software, run it with administrator privileges.

To create the USB drive from ISO file,
  • Run PowerISO as Administrator
  • Insert the USB drive into your computer
  • Go to Tools > Create Bootable USB Drive
  • Select Source Image File(the .iso file you have downloaded from Microsoft)
  • Leave the writing method to USB-HDD and click on Start to start the bootable USB making process

Wait until the process is done. When it is done, restart your computer and press F12 or relevant button to open Boot Options while booting. Now select Removable Device or relevant option to start booting from USB drive that you just made bootable.

Come back after you successfully changed the operating system on your computer and don’t forget to share this article on your social network.
